Foreign Actresses in Bollywood Movies

Appearance of foreign actresses in Indian movies is not a new phenomenon. But in recent time, the number of such actresses is grown up.

Here is a short introduction to some of the actresses from other countries who appeared in Indian cinema. I have excluded the actresses from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal who appeared in Bollywood films, as they are familiar to India.

Helen Jairag Richardson: Born on 21st October 1939

Helen was the first foreign actress to appear in in Indian films. She is of Burmese origin. She mainly appeared as a dancer and supporting actress in Hindi films. She became most popular dancer-singer of Bollywood. In the time span of 1951-2012, she has appeared in more than 100 movies.

Amy Louise Jackson Born on 31st January 1991

Amy Jackson was born in Isle of Man. She is a British actress and model. She started her film career with the Tamil movie Madrasapattinam, and won Vikatan Award for Best Debut. Her first Hindi film Ekk Deewana Tha will be released soon. Moreover, she is working in two more Indian movies, one of which is in Tamil and another is in Telugu.

Giselli Monteiro: Born on 16th November 1988

Giselli Monteiro started her Bollywood film career with the film Love Aaj Kal. Thereafter she worked in another Hindi movie Always Kabhi Kabhi.

Jacqueline Fernandez: Born on 2nd June 1985 at Colombo, Sri Lanka

Jacqueline Fernandez appears in Hindi films. She started her film career with the film Aladin in 2009, for which she received IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female and Max Stardust Award for Exciting New Face. So far she has appeared in 7 Hindi films.

Yana Gupta (Yana Synkova ): Born on 23rd April 1979

Yana Gupta is originally from Czechoslovakia. She is working in Bollywood films. She started her Bollywood film career in 2003 with the film Dum. So far she has appeared in 11 films.

Bárbara Mori Ochoa: Born on February 2, 1978

Bárbara Mori is a Mexican actress, who also appeared in Bollywood film Kites. The film was shot mainly in New Mexico. Rhitik Roshan, one of the most famous Bollywood actors was the hero of this film.

Rachel Shelley: Born on 25th August 1969

Rachel Shelley is an actress from England. She appeared in Aamir Khan's Hindi film Lagaan in 2001.
