Does your computer work slow? Does it hang? Are you bored of your slow computer? Are you paying high fees to the maintenance engineer to fasten your computer? Here are some tips for you. Follow them and get rid of the slowness of your computer.

All the tips given here are for the users of Microsoft Windows.

Delete Temporary Files

Automatic storage of the temporary files in the C Drive of your computer is one of the most important reasons which affects the speed of your computer. Such files are created while running various programs on your computer.

You can delete temporary file very easily. Just follow these steps:

Click on Start Button> Click on Run>Type %temp% in the box which appears on the screen

A window will open. Select all the files and delete them.

Also delete them from recycle bin.

You can get some free software to this job, if you do not want to do it manually. I use Glary Utilities to this regularly, and do it manually occasionally.

This first step alone will help your computer to run faster.

Delete Browsing History

Your browsing history is another reason that slowdowns your computer. Frequently delete your browsing history.

To do this, Open Internet Explorer>Go to Tools>Click on Internet Options>Delete Browsing History

Or Open Mozilla Firefox>Go to Tool>Click on Clear Recent History. You can do this by using shortcuts also, CTRL+SHIFT+DELETE.

Uninstall Unused Programs

When you install a program on your computer, it occupies a space in C drive. Remember that less free space in C drive is a reason that slowdowns your computer. To free the space uninstall the programs which you never use.

To uninstall a program, Click on Start>Go to Control Panel> Click on Add or Remove Programs. A window will open showing all the programs. Click on the program which you want to remove, and then click on the remove button. This action will uninstall the program.

Scan Your Computer

There are some viruses which slowdown you computer. Frequently scan your computer. This step will remove such viruses and malware, and also protect your computer from dangerous viruses.

Install an antivirus software as soon as possible if you have already not done it. If you do not want to pay for it, get one free from net. Just search for 'Free Antivirus Software'.

Defragment Hard Drives of Your Computer

For a computer, it is always not possible to place all the data together. The data is stored in sections and the sections may be far away from each others. This is another cause which slowdowns your computer. This problem can be solved by defragmentation of your hard disk. Defragmentation arranges the files into order, and reduces the time to read a file.

It is easy to defragment the hard drives of your computer. Follow these steps:

Go to My Computer>Right click the drive you want to defragment>Click on Properties. A separate window will open. Now click on Tools, then click on Defragment Now button. The process of defragmentation will take lot of time, usually half an hour or more depending upon the volume of files in a hard drive.

Using software for this process is not recommended.

All the above steps will solve your problems without paying a fees to others. If these things do not work, only then you require a Maintenance Engineer to look into the matter.

Also take following precautions:

Do Not Save Files in C Drive

When you save photographs and other files, save them in other than C drive. Also do not save files and photographs on Desktop. This step will help to keep free space on C Drive.

Do not Open Too Many Windows

While working on internet, do not open too many windows. If you open many windows at same time, your computer may hang.
