Jainism is one of the oldest religion from East. It believes in Ahinsa, i.e., Non-violence. This religion does not permit to kill animals, in any condition.
Followers of Jainism, known as Jains are vegetarian with a strict diet code. In west, many of them are becoming vegans.
The photograph I have published here is of a carved painting I saw on a pillar in front of a Jain temple near my home town. The pictures shows a cow and a tigress eating in a same pot, while the calf of the cow is drinking milk from the tigress's nipples. On the other side the cub of the tigress is drinking cow's milk from her nipples.
I had seen this picture on wallpapers at my childhood for many times. Years later I saw it as carved painting. I took a photo of it, as it is a very important symbol of Jainism. The symbol shows how a tigress and cow are eating in one and the same pot forgetting their natural enmity and the calf and cub too getting feeded by natural enemies. The picture teaches us to forget enmity and live together.
But are we ready to forget enmity and be friends? Here 'We' means we human beings, who are fighting amongst our selves for small reasons.
Interestingly, there are many Jain symbols which are related to animals, including animals like Bull, Elephant, Horse, Monkey, Snake, Rhinoceros, Buffalo etc. I would like to write about it in another article.

The picture put by you symbolizes the fact that In presence of Bhagwan, Even animals do not posses 'jathivyra' i.e. enmity by birth.So this picture is put in almost all Jain places on one occasion or the other.It is there as a sculpture in front of 21 ft.tall Chanraprabha statue near Tumkur.You can see them st Moodbidri and Karkala, and Shravanabelagola.This picture indicates how deep rooted non-violence is, in Jainism.When animals forget enmity, what about men?
