Shooting a Monkey

-Mahavir Sanglikar

Two years ago I was on tour of Orissa, an Eastern state of India. At Udaygiri-Khandgiri caves I got a chance to take photographs of monkeys. Here are some of the photographs I took there.

All these photographs were taken at just 2 Mega Pixels with Canon PowerShot A540, my tiny digital camera.

Above: This male monkey was looking scary, but I dared to take this close-up photograph going very near to him as my camera was not allowing to shoot from distance because of its limitations.

This monkey is known as Langur and found almost everywhere in south Asia. In India, they are known as Hanuman Langur also. In Indian mythology, Hanuman, a monkey helped Lord Ram in his war against Ravan.

They are such fascinating creatures. Wonderful photographs for a 2 Mega Pixels camera too. You're clearly a much better photographer than I am.

You have some great pictures. I love these monkeys, as generally their nature is very friendly and polite! :-)

Thanks for SHARING.
