United States Going to be a Multilingual Nation
64Although English is the prominent language of United States, the percentage of English speaking population is decreasing steadily. It is happening because of a large number of migrants from world over settling in United States. This is sign of US going to be a multilingual nation in near future.
According to the US Census Bureau report, 82% of Americans have English as their mother tongue (First Language), and rest of all have other languages as their Mother Tongues.
Spanish is second most spoken language in the country. It is taught as second languages in several states, especially southwestern states of the country where population of Hispanic people is significant. Other main languages in USA are Chinese, French, German, Italian and Japanese.
There is no official language status for English on Federal level and in many states.
The number of immigrants in United States is increasing rapidly. This will lead the country to become multilingual. Spanish will become second most important language in United States as it is well distributed in several states, taught as a second language in many and becoming popular even in non-Hispanic population because of Spanish language films and music.
Other main languages in United States will get importance as the percentage of the speakers of the languages grows.
So United States will become a multilingual country in near future but not like India or Pakistan. English will enjoy its status in United States, but will lose its monopoly.

You are right. It is interesting to know that US will be a Spanish speaking country.
you do realize there is ZERO multi-language countries right? it doesn't work. never has and never will. if people want to speak spanish over english, then it will eventually spur new countries. the problem is what will the new "spanish" countries be? just whites that speak spanish? or that multi-racial hell hole that is mexico? either way they will be high crime and horrible places to live. blacks, whites, and asians that dont want to speak spanish will flee.

I think that the U.S. is already multilingual. The U.S. Census also predicts that by 2050, most Americans will speak Spanish. Voting this Up and Interesting.
